About Massimo Gallotta
My fantastic journey into the world of concert production and promotion began in the year 1976, just by chance, as I was placed in charge of organizing a rock concert in my hometown; another concert followed and by sheer grace it became my career. In a few years I was able to claim a spot among the experienced producers in concert promotion circles of Italy. I found myself working with more and more highly established artists of the period, focused and fixed on continuing my career in the music industry. In 1981, I was granted the rare honor of meeting the great Renato Carosone who at the time was not only the most revered and respected Italian musical Artists, but also retired his talents from the music industry (seemingly at the peak of his career) and was simply not interested in returning to live performance. I was somehow able to entice him to reconsider, I became his manager, and soon we were touring nationally and headlining many concerts, the music industry became my school. By age 22, I was representing one of the greatest Italian recording artists, and in turn we made every concert of his a memorable and noteworthy event. This was a turning point in my career. My main driving force and inspiration has always been the challenge of matching the Artist with the strongest location attainable.
Living in Italy and growing up there surrounded by the favorable natural beauty and historic brilliance of cultural Italian wonders inspired me to promote new and exciting events within these magnificent spots; such as: Frank Sinatra Live in Archeological Pompeii, Ray Charles with Manhattan Transfer and Gilbert Becaud on the Beaches of Positano, Caetano Veloso and Gilbert Gil at the Teatro Antico of Taormina and Port of Naples, Pino Daniele and Massimo Ranieri at the Arco Naturale of Palinuro, are just a few examples. My inspiration is formed by the precise sentiments and emotions that my own vision is able to liberate. With this ambition I have toured and organized countless events for famed Italian artists such as: Massimo Ranieri, Pino Daniele, Gianni Morandi, Renzo Arbore, Lucio Dalla, Gigi Proietti, and many more international megastars such as Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, Patti Labelle, Joe Cocker, Dionne Warwick, Manhattan Transfer, the Crusaders, Eumir Deodato, Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso, Chico Barque De Hollanda, Lionel Hampton, and Academy Award winning Composer Ennio Morricone.
In 2006, I created Massimo Gallotta Productions in New York City with intention and interest to promote Italian culture and music internationally. In February of 2007 I produced the first ever US concert for Maestro Ennio Morricone, with a 200-piece orchestra, at Radio City Music Hall. During that very same month, Maestro Morricone received his first honorary Academy Award and presented a concert at the United Nations welcoming the new Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon. The event was considered among the greatest of Italian musical productions ever in the United States, and thus renders me joyfully proud. With this enthusiasm I challenge myself again building my American career in this industry, managing new events, such as the US debut of Roberto Benigni and Pino Daniele. New ideas and projects are born usually over a fine glass of wine with friends that I personally thank, among these are Tommy Li Puma, Eumir Deodato, and the great Patti Labelle. I have much gratitude for the great Ms. Patti Labelle for giving me the astonishing honor of producing her first ever Reunion Concert alongside Ms. Nona Hendrix and Ms. Sarah Dash a.k.a. "Labelle" Live at the World Famous Apollo Theatre. A special, and personal, acknowledgement of gratitude goes to Maestro Ennio Morricone for having given me the necessary confidence and for my team that has been with me and followed me even in the most difficult of times. Above all I have to thank my Parents who right from the beginning of my career have given me a hard time, teaching me to never avoid the hard times, but rather proceeding with the strongest determination to complete what I truly believe in.
